Job Description:The Senior Accountant is responsible for the accounting, analysis, and reporting of packing materials inventory. The successful candidate is detail oriented and relishes the challenge of overseeing the accounting for a multi-location, multimillion dollar inventory. This position will work closely with the purchasing department and the inventory control managers as well as other members of the accounting team.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPackaging InventoryReview and approve weekly invoicing for all packaging materials sold to our harvesting companies.Review packaging invoices from vendors and submit for payment.Monthly reconciliation to general ledger balance for all packaging inventory.Maintain packaging price sheets for outbound inventory.Participate in inventory counts as needed.Once a year, go to the warehouse and verify the inventory list provided is accurate and physically ensure the count is correct.Accounting and General LedgerProvide backup support to the Lead Senior Accountant during any absence:Daily cash controlDownload bank statementsVerify payments are captured (ex. Wire transfers, ACH)Assist the accounting team with general ledger close duties unrelated to packaging.Provide month end variance analysis for harvesting operations.Schedule and review selected general ledger accounts for Ocean Mist FarmsPerform other ad hoc projects and analysis as assigned.?Job Requirements and QualificationsBachelor?s degree in Business or Finance required, Accounting degree preferred.A minimum of 3-7 years of progressive accounting experience is required; Inventory management experience is highly desired: Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); comparable experience in related agriculture accounting is also highly desired.Proficient software skills are required, including Microsoft Office suite applications (i.e., Excel); prior Famous experience is desired.Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.A self-starter ensure delegated tasks are completed with minimal supervision.Proactively communicate task and project updates to supervisor.Ability to learn and absorb new duties with minimal repetition or re-training from supervisor.Keep tasks on schedule; able to work well under pressure.Ability to operate various office equipment, including (not inclusive list): telephone, computer keyboard, photocopy machine, fax, 10-key calculator by touch, postage meter and other clerical and office equipment.
