Job DescriptionThis position qualifies for Montage Medical Group's Commencement Bonus of $1,000 ($250 at start date and $750 after successful completion of 90 days of employment, less applicable taxes and deductions).

Montage Medical Group (MMG), a subsidiary of the Montage Health system, operating as a licensed community clinic following California Department of Public Health Title 22 statutes. MMG launched in 2009 with a clinic in Carmel and now serves Monterey County through several clinics located in Carmel, Marina and Monterey. MMG is a non-profit public service physician group with over 60 healthcare providers, seeing approximately 125,000 patient visits annually. The person in the position of Medical Assistant provides patient care in the office setting under the direction of physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or registered nurse. Depending upon training, experience and supervision, administers injections, performs EKGs and laboratory tests (venipuncture) and applies bandages. A medical assistant is an individual whom performs basic administrative, clerical and technical supportive services for a licensed healthcare provider and who is at least 18 years old and who has completed the minimum requisite training pursuant to the standards established by the Division of Licensing. Complies with regulatory requirements, nursing and office policies, procedures and standards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Must have superior patient service attitude and skills. High patient satisfaction is of critical importance. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and family
  • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider (MD/DO/PA/NP/RN)
  • Prepare patient for physician evaluation (e.g., room patient, take vitals, etc.). Interview patients, measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and records information in patients' electronic medical record. Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients. Assure prompt patient flow
  • Assist physician and other qualified licensed providers with evaluation and treatment of the patient. Attend to wounds and injuries as directed by the healthcare provider
  • Conduct various procedures as indicated by the healthcare provider (e.g., immunizations, injections, lab procedures such as rapid strep and flu tests, urinalysis, etc.)
  • Administer medication (intradermal, subcutaneous or intramuscular injection only) ordered and approved by the healthcare provider
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality. Medical and surgical asepsis is carried out during treatments and special procedures. Maintains infection preventions and control standards for exam/procedure rooms; clean, disinfect, change linens, etc.
  • Coordinate the flow of patients in the examination and treatment areas to ensure efficient use of the facility and physician
  • Verbally notifies appropriate licensed healthcare provider with urgent patient requests and/or clinical advice within established timeframes. Records the request and status in the patient's chart
  • Maintain 5S inventory of medications and medical supplies, and follow all procedures regarding expired medications. Restock lab area daily, including all drawers and treatment trays
  • Maintain current CPR certificationsSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities.QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Medical assistants wishing to perform technical supportive services must receive such training as is "necessary to assure the medical assistant's competence in performing that service at the appropriate standard of care." Must be neat and professional in appearance and wear identification while on duty. Detail oriented and well organized. Computer literate (i.e., be familiar with a PC and basic software, such as Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, etc.) One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bilingual may be required at certain clinics or during certain shifts. Must be able to work under pressure and in stressful situations and must be able to work quickly when business conditions warrant.CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:Due to the state mandate for Healthcare Workers, we will require you to prove that you have received the COVID-19 vaccine or have a valid religious or medical reason not to be vaccinated.
