The Vice President of Horticulture is responsible for planning
and directing all activities related to the horticulture function
at Growers Transplanting, Inc. “GTI” by providing direction,
materials, resources and support to Growers, Assistant Growers and
other horticulture support staff including PCA’s. This position
requires a horticultural core competency, leadership ability,
reliability, attention to detail, teamwork, critical thinking,
problem solving, excellent verbal and written communication skills,
project management skills, ability to work cross-functionally,
creativity, while maintaining a continuous process improvement
mindset. Business travel 50%.
Investigate and learn best product improvement process for
Focus on specific nursery action plans/initiatives,
advocate/work with staff to understand and successfully implement
new or existing systems, monitor agronomic activities in operated
nursery locations during the growing season, design and deploy best
practices, and lead specific projects geared toward innovation.
With the Operations and Production Depts., determine future crop
production numbers and crop production plans.
Establish proper plant programs, crop schedules and
horticultural standard operating procedures “SOP’s”.
Manage crop mapping and crop space needs. Develop of specialty

Business partner with Finance and Accounting to prepare and
report on cost sheet management, cost sheet simulations, crop

Partner with Operations and Production Planning Depts. to create
budgets, set production plans and establish production goals and

50% business travel to numerous GTI facilities in Gustine,
Nipomo, Salinas and Pajaro Valley as well as other sites and
locations as needed for business reasons.

S in Horticulture or closely related field.
MBA or Master of Science in Agriculture, Horticulture or related
Licensed Pest Control Advisor
Working knowledge of new and emerging technology in vegetable
and/or fruit transplanting technology.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred.
10 + years working successfully in a Horticultural
Ability to oversee and manage a horticulture and PCA group of
PC, Mac skills and intermediate level Microsoft Office Suite
While performing the functions of this job, the employee is
regularly required to sit; frequently required to talk or hear; and
occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle
or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds.
