Job Summary:

The Assistant Banquet Manager oversees the details of banquet set-up, design, and execution to ensure successful and well-coordinated events.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform administrative duties including scheduling and review of timecards
  • Check all banquet rooms for proper set-up, cleanliness and maintenance
  • Coordinate server assignments with captain; brief servers prior to event
  • Check linen requirements and order accordingly
  • Review banquet event orders each day in detail
  • Ring banquet checks into the POS machine
  • Moving tables, setting rooms and being hands on
  • Attend weekly menu meetings to review daily/weekly events
  • Coordinate with florist the number and placement of floral arrangements
  • Check staffing for following day events, ensuring adequate coverage
  • Review and participate in monthly and yearly financials
  • Brief all employees assisting with event of their duties and responsibilities
  • Supervise captains, set-up supervisor, servers, and convention service person
  • Communicate with other departments regarding times, counts and last-minute changes
  • Maintain overall room cleanliness and orderly condition within banquet areas
  • Participate in supervisory duties such as hiring, training, coaching, and employee evaluations
  • Assist Manager in overseeing the Banquet Beverage Department
  • Assist Manager in keeping safety a high priority
  • Comply with all Pebble Beach Company safety and health policies and procedures

Required Skills:

  • Two years banquet experience preferred
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Previous leadership experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Knowledge of buffet design and set up
  • Must be able to carry large oval tray over shoulder
  • Experience with point of sale system, Windows 95 and Excel helpful
  • Computer knowledge of MS Office Suite including Word and Excel
  • Valid California drivers license

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for long periods of time and move frequently from area to area. Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, and reach with hands and arms. Ability to carry and balance dish ware and glassware in the course of service. Regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
