Description:OVERVIEWThe Scientist I performs routine and complex duties to support the day-to-day operations of the QC Laboratory under the direction of the QC Lab. This role reports directly to the QC Lab Manager.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs pH, conductivity, osmolality, density, bioburden, performance testing, and other QC assays as necessary
• Performs raw material testing using assays and methods including (but not limited to) analytical titrations, performance testing and minimum inhibition concentration (MIC) assay.
• Prepares the necessary sample preparation to assist in testing.
• Raw material sampling in the quarantine area in receiving.
• Ensures testing requirements are met
• Maintain the lab equipment and calibrations as required to ensure accurate and consistent results
• Responsible for storage and documentation of retention samples
• Responsible for environmental monitoring of the clean areas/rooms
• Supports and provides key input on any revisions to processes or standard operating procedures and other relating documents, which are submitted to management for review and final approval
• Maintains specific QC files and database records for process and/or quality improvement efforts
• Any other duties or responsibilities as necessary. Requirements:EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology or related field; may be supplemented by applicable experienceKNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
    • 1-2 years related experience in a manufacturing or quality control setting preferred; may be supplemented by bachelor's degree in related scientific field
    • Fundamental and working knowledge of computers, including MS Office applications (i.e. MS Word, MS Excel, etc.)
    • Aseptic technique
    • Good human relations and oral/written communication skills
    • Ability to organize and handle multiple projects concurrently
    • Fundamental working knowledge of aseptic technique
    • Strong math skills
    • Must be willing to work a 4/10 schedule (Sunday-Wednesday or Wednesday-Saturday)PHYSICAL / SPECIAL DEMANDS
      • Must be able to walk, bend, carry, lift, push and pull 40 poundsEEOC Employer
