Description:Position SummaryAt Growers Transplanting, Inc., we

leadership teams. To continue delivering best-in-class seedlings
and innovative agriculture solutions to field growers, we are
seeking a Safety Specialist.The Safety Supervisor supervises the
identification and remediation of hazardous workplace conditions.
Oversees the measurement and sampling of hazardous materials, and
any removal of physical, biological, and chemical hazards.
Investigates, analyze, and report on any accidents or unsafe events
and suggests remedial and preventative actions. Develops a
safety-conscious culture by providing workforce education on first
aid, emergency/safety procedures, and regulations. Ensures all
necessary records are maintained and are in compliance with all
applicable federal and state health and safety regulations.
Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration
(OSHA), Ag County, Organic, Insurance, and other entities' audits
and inspections providing inspectors with appropriate documents.
Operations for Growers Transplanting, Inc. in various locations
including the greater Salinas area, Nipomo, Gustine, and Brawley,
CA. various industrial locations including greenhouses, fabrication
shops, manufacturing lines, and agricultural fields. Business
Travel up to 60% .Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)
- Maintain and periodically update company's Transplanting Food
Safety Manual and standard operating procedures when necessary.??
Provide safety training to employees as required by job category. -
Conduct periodic safety and health walk-through inspections of all
workplace facilities. - Assists incident response and workers
compensation claim management. - Ensures compliance with Company
Safety Programs and makes recommendations that best reflect current
Company practices. - Maintains records including, but not limited
to, equipment pre-inspections, safety training, audit records, SDSs
and safety assessments. - Responsible for scheduling, preparing,
and attending Third Party Audits - Maintain working knowledge of
current food safety audit requirements and revises SOPs to maintain
compliance with our food safety requirements.?? - Ensure that
monthly safety meetings and all other specifically required
training is provided for all employees. - Ensure that all mandatory
required OSHA or Safety related postings are up at every location.
- Prioritizes projects based on risk assessments. - Assists the
Company in Department of Transportation compliance, as needed. -
Follows up with relative departments to ensure work order
completion. - Assist in documenting incidents / accidents and
conduct a proper investigation followed up by necessary training. -
Assist in responding to safety-oriented suggestions and complaints.
- Assist in maintaining required safety and health documents/files.
- Ensure fleet safety programs are implemented and audited, as
needed. - Performs all duties in accordance with environmental,
food safety, safety rules and regulations. - Develops and maintains
the?company's SOPs for the Organic System Plan in compliance with
current National Organic Program regulations - Leads and
participates in organic certifier audits - Leads and participates
in the reporting compliance for the current Ag Order Regional Water
Board in all facilities - Assists the Horticultural and Plant
Health department in obtaining and renewing County Permits for
pesticide application. - Assists the Sales department with
customers' inquiries related to company's compliance practices. -
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned. Salary
Range: $79,600- $110,000Requirements: Qualifications (Knowledge,
Skills, and Experience) - Associates Degree in Safety preferred. A
combination of education and job experience may be considered. - 5+
years of pertinent experience required. - Must have a valid CDL and
must be deemed insurable to drive a company vehicle. - Bilingual
(English/Spanish) required. - Must be adaptable and able to change
work priorities quickly depending on day-to-day events and business
needs. - Microsoft Office suite intermediate skill level required.
Research skills also required. - Good written communication skills
required. - Effective oral and visual group presentation and
facilitation skills required. - The ability to develop a safety
first culture with employees and other workers at all levels is
essential. - Valid CA driver's license. Must maintain eligibility
for company sponsored vehicle insurance.Certified trainer in the
following topics: - Fieldworker safety - Pesticide handler safety -
Forklift safety - Tractor safety - Competent trainer in the
following topics: - Respirator safety - Driver Safety - Good Ag
Practices, Organic Principles and Food Safety - Bloodborne
Pathogens - Specific Program Coverage: IIPP, COVID-19, HIPP, LOTO,
Confined Spaces, HazCom, Nighttime Operations, PPE, Hearing
Conservation, EAPPhysical Requirements While performing the
functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit;
frequently required to talk or hear; and occasionally required to
stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands
and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must
occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision
abilities by this job include close distance and color vision.*This
