To continue delivering best-in-class seedlings and innovative agriculture solutions to our customers, we are looking for an Assistant Grower.The Assistant Grower is responsible for an assigned crop or set of crops production day-to-day needs. The Assistant Grower is also responsible for supervising assigned employees and duties such as but not limited to, irrigation, fertilization, disease and pest control, soil management as well as scheduling duties.

Essential Responsibilities - Assist Head Grower troubleshooting daily operations issues related to assigned crop(s) and greenhouse(s). - Partner with Crew Lead to ensure that all operation procedures are carried out to completion (i.e., space planning, crews, etc.) - Provide support to irrigators, chemical sprayers and Crew Leads to supervise employees and ensure procedures are being followed. - Responsible for water, fertility management, pest, and disease identification as well as control management for assigned greenhouse(s). - Responsible for soil management, including tracking of soil EC and pH values. General Quality Control (i.e., finishing plants according to specifications). - Coordinate with shipping and logistics fulfillment of loading requests. - Report in a timely fashion any quality growing concerns and potential root-causes - Oversee proper disinfection of benches, irrigation carts, mowers, and other nursery equipment. - Supervise proper crop mowing procedures. - Coordinates with seed lines and head growers, location space planning and consolidation of crops - Assist the head grower staging equipment, materials and requesting labor before nursery/greenhouse activities take place. - Comply daily with Company's Injury & Illness Prevention Plan. - Provide training to new employees to ensure they become familiar with job duties, safety requirements and overall operations procedures. - Responsible for a Clean and Safe Working Environment - Responsible for record keeping associated with all areas outlined under Growing Management Department. - Perform any other related duties as required or assigned. - Performs all duties in accordance with environmental, food safety, safety rules and regulations. - Performs other duties as assigned.


Requirements:Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• 4+ Years of experience in Greenhouse Operations or related field
• Ability to supervise a small group (3-10) of employees.
• Plant quality advocate
• Attention to the detail.
• CA Private Applicator Certification (Applies to Pesticides and other Chemicals) preferred.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office knowledge (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
• Physical ActivitiesPhysical RequirementsWhile performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; frequently required to talk or hear; and occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds.
